The retired Weatherspoon Plant, located near Lumberton, N.C., previously included three coal-fired steam units. The first unit began operation in 1949 with additions in 1950 and 1952. In addition, this site has four combustion turbine units that began commercial operation in 1970 and 1971.
The plant was retired in 2011.
